My background and experience in consultancy
I have been an independent consultant since 1990,
providing consultancy and training services to a wide
range of voluntary and statutory organisations, local
authorities, government bodies, and in different types
of industry and commerce. I have undertaken a wide
variety of assignments including strategic and structural
reviews, board and staff development, research and
feasibility studies. My publications include reports
on policy and service provision for marginalised communities
and groups such as refugees and the street homeless.
I also have wide-ranging experience of providing individual
consultancy to chief executives, directors and senior
staff in the voluntary sector and to other consultants.
I have been a visiting lecturer in the Psychology and
Business Studies departments of three universities.
My experience and understanding of groups and organisations
has developed over the last two decades. I have been
a member and facilitator of on-going analytic groups
and completed courses in organisational behaviour at
the Grubb Institute, the Tavistock Clinic and the Institute
of Group Analysis.
The early part of my career included working in a
large local authority where I was jointly responsible
for the development and training of 500 staff. I am
a past Chair of Youthaid, a national charity, and have
served on the management committees of a number of
voluntary organisations. I am a qualified Careers Advisor
with extensive experience of working in multi-ethnic
settings.
